PDP has no place in Edo — Esogban of Benin Kingdom

The Chairman of the Benin Forum, an umbrella body of all Benins both in Nigeria and the Diaspora, Chief
David Edebiri has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has no future in Edo State.

He claimed the party would fail woefully in the 2015 general and 2016 governorship elections in the state.

Chief Edebiri who is the Esogban and Odionwere of Benin Kingdom, is regarded as the ‘oracle of Benin Kingdom’ following his predictions in 2012 that Governor Oshiomhole
would win in the entire 18 local government councils of the state which eventually came.

The Benin High Chief and second in command among the palace chiefs in Benin Kingdom, broke his silence yesterday on the political crisis in the state, accusing the Federal
Government of having a hand in it.

The Esogban, who represented the Oba of Benin, Omo n’Oba Erediauwa, spoke in his personal capacity as the Esogban and Odionwere of Benin Kingdom, at a Town Hall meeting
organized by Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to address pressing security issues in the state, the recent crisis was a re-enactment of the saga in the Old
Western Region.

He asked the PDP to field some of its members who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the coming elections and see how woefully the party would lose.

He said: “What we were about to witness in Edo State was a
re-enactment of the political scenario in the old Western Region in 1962-1964, whereby the Central Government caused a division
